Chlorine, explained

Why your water tastes like a pool.

  1. Chlorine is doing its job

It keeps city water safe on the way to your house. You can also taste and smell it at the tap, especially in coffee, tea and ice.

  2. You feel it in the shower

Many people notice drier skin and hair from chlorinated shower water. Kind Kitchen includes two filtered, chlorine-reducing shower heads, free.

  3. RO at the kitchen tap

Reverse osmosis takes care of chlorine taste and much more for the water you drink and cook with, from its own dedicated faucet.

Two filtered shower heads, on us.

City water is chlorinated to keep it safe. You feel it in the shower. We swap in two filtered, chlorine-reducing shower heads on install day. Reverse osmosis can’t run at shower flow, so we don’t pretend it does.

Two ways to better water.

Most homes in Kenmore and Buffalo only need great water at the kitchen tap. Start there, or treat the whole house.

FAQ

Questions, answered straight.

Why filtered shower heads instead of reverse osmosis in the shower?

Reverse osmosis is far too slow to keep up with shower flow, so it can’t run a shower. Ours are filtered, chlorine-reducing shower heads, built to cut chlorine in your shower water. You get two free with Kind Kitchen.

Is my water unsafe?

No. Kenmore’s water meets state and federal standards. People filter for better taste, less chlorine, and peace of mind about older pipes in their home or service line.

How long does installation take?

An under-sink reverse osmosis install usually takes about 2–4 hours. Whole-Home Kind (whole-house carbon + softener) is typically 4–8 hours. Custom whole-home RO can take 1–2 days.

What about filter changes?

You own the system, so filters are yours too. Prefilters are usually changed every 6–12 months and the RO membrane every few years, depending on use. A filter subscription that handles this for you is coming soon.

Do I need a permit or a licensed plumber?

Yes, and we handle it. In Kenmore, Tonawanda and Buffalo, connecting a reverse osmosis or whole-house system to your plumbing needs a permit pulled by a licensed plumber. It’s included in the price. Swapping shower heads doesn’t need a permit.
